Difficult Routes

Routes that exceed five hours of walking or feature elevation gains of more than 900 metres, designed for experienced and well-trained hikers capable of tackling long and demanding sections on uneven and variable terrain. They require excellent physical fitness, sure-footedness and the ability to move confidently on rough trails, steep slopes and natural surfaces.

Appropriate technical equipment is essential, particularly trekking boots or mountain footwear, together with a good knowledge of the mountain environment and hiking safety rules. From an accessibility perspective, difficult routes can be undertaken exclusively on foot and involve a high level of difficulty; they are not accessible to people with disabilities. The length of the routes, significant elevation gains and surface conditions make them unsuitable for wheelchair use and incompatible with assisted access for sensory or motor disabilities.
